My Jokes Are Up Here - Four of Canada’s Top Comics: Jen Grant, Christina Walkinshaw, Erica Sigurdson and Rebecca Kohler
Presented by Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe
Join us for a night of hilarious fun with four of Canada’s top female comedians. My Jokes Are Up Here features the amazing stand-up talent of Jen Grant, Christina Walkinshaw, Erica Sigurdson and Rebecca Kohler.
Jen Grant has achieved virtually everything you can achieve in the world of stand-up comedy in Canada. She has performed at every major comedy festival in the country including the Just for Laughs Festival, the Halifax and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. All of which have aired on national television. She can also be heard on CBC’s The Debaters and has her own TV special on The Comedy Network. From topics such as her cool mom to dating a younger man to her love of naps, she will have you laughing until you're crying. Funny tears. Not sad ones. Her ability to weave hilarious jokes with funny audience interaction is extraordinary.
Christina Walkinshaw is a regular on CBC's The Debaters, and she also makes (sporadic) appearances in the shower. Christina is a popular comedy writer, having been featured in The Huffington Post for her blog, "My Week On Tinder" which gained a large following and grabbed the attention of MTV Canada's development department. Christina recently returned from a comedy tour overseas to entertain the American Military.
Vancouver–based Erica Sigurdson has been one of Canada’s familiar funny faces on television for almost a decade. In addition to her numerous television specials, Erica is an award–winning comedy writer for television and makes frequent appearances on the CBC Radio hit The Debaters. In 2007 Erica was awarded a Leo Award for Best Comedy Screenwriting, along with co-writer Peter Kelamis, for her writing on the 21st Annual Gemini Awards. Her comedy festival credits include Montreal Just for Laughs, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Vancouver Comedy Festival, and many others.
When not writing for television, Canadian Comedy Award winner Rebecca Kohler takes to demolishing stand-up stages in both Canada and the US. Balancing an innate benevolence with a tongue like an acid attack, Rebecca has the ability to dissect the darkness of life’s truths while maintaining a cheeky adorability. With a focus on connecting as humans and an aversion to low-hanging fruit, Rebecca Kohler’s stand-up will educate, comfort and eye-open all while inducing laughter.
