Show Tune Showdown
Presented by Tone Cluster - quite a queer choir
Show Tune Showdown™ combines musical theatre performances and team competition. It’s a unique blend of the best of Broadway, musical trivia like Name That Tune and loads of Broadway glitz thrown into the mix!
With points earned for fabulous performances, knowledge of trivia, and from the kindness of strangers, it’s hard to know who will win this competition until just before the closing curtain. The show features a celebrity panel of judges that includes Heather Gibson (Executive Producer, Popular Music & Variety for the National Arts Centre), Ottawa Centre MPP Joel Harden, and CBC Radio Ottawa journalist Amanda Pfeffer. Three local music theatre groups, Ain’t Seen Noth’n Yet, Orpheus Musical Theatre and Zucchini Productions will compete for the title of Show Tune Showdown™ 2022 champion.
Throw in an opening and closing number by Tone Cluster, our amazing accompanist Tim Piper and our fabulous MC Jesse Reynolds and Show Tune Showdown™ has all the ingredients for an unforgettable show!
Although masks are no longer required under provincial regulations, for the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of everyone in attendance, the producer, performers and crew of Show Tune Showdown recommends that all attendees wear a mask while in the theatre.
Wearing a mask has its advantages
On three occasions during Show Tune Showdown, our MC will call out a seat number and if the audience member in that particular seat has a face mask on, that audience member will be given $50. Yet another reason to be "better safe than sorry".
